Case Studies

 

Sundance Institute

Y² Analytics has had a relationship with the Sundance Institute since 2016, and in 2017 began conducting an annual study quantifying the economic impact of the Sundance Film Festival on the state of Utah. These economic impact studies are conducted with innovative methodologies, like radio signal sensors installed in festival venues to detect unique devices, and survey responses from randomly sampled attendees interviewed via in-person intercept interviews and online invitations. This data collection and analysis is invaluable to the Sundance Institute–each year, the tourism and financial contributions that come to the state of Utah as a result of the Sundance Film Festival are presented to the Utah State Legislature, aiding the Institute in securing vital state funding to support ongoing programming including the Festival itself. This partnership has included various additional research endeavors, including a brand health study analyzing market share and statewide favorability, program performance and user interface evaluations, a series of employee satisfaction studies, and a survey aimed at discovering feelings of belonging and safety among Sundance Film Festival attendees.
